Psalm 51:1-2; 10-12 A song of repentence
"Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my inquity and cleanse me from my sin. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me."
Reflect
Which words, phrase or verse caught your attention?
Make a list of your "transgressions". Read the passage again inserting the words from the list in the place of the word "transgressions". Finish reading the passage. Now, destory the list.
Think about the ways in which you have expereinced God renewing you and your life. In what ways did that experience change you or your life?
In this ancient song, what is God's message for you? How will you respond?
Pray
Thank you God, for the gift of your forgiving word that offers hope. Remind me of your great compassion that washes away the worst of me. Daily create within me a clean heart. Amen.
